When former solo traveller Susan Ripley, founder of Brooklyn Tropicali mentions to someone that she is currently living in Mexico City, she gets two very distinct reactions. Sometimes, her statement is met with enthusiasm (usually from someone who has already done some Mexico City travel), but more often it’s met with a pause and some confusion. Mexico’s Mayan Riviera is a popular spot for solo travellers but Mexico City comes with an acute stigma of peril.
Ripley believes that most solo travellers are misinformed about this part of the world. Yes, this city had its issues in the past, but it has emerged as a bustling cultural centre and tourist destination.
She is super passionate about helping other solo travellers, families and honeymooners find value in visiting places that are commonly misjudged. Click below to view Susan Ripley’s story in Issue 3 of JOZU Magazine and start planning your Mexico City escape!
